Dar er Salaam is a vibrant bustling city, sitting on the coast of Tanzania, a thriving metropolis on the Indian Ocean. Once a small fishing town, it has grown into a commercial hub with a fast pace of life and plenty to see and do.
Dar es Salaam is a melting-point of African, Arabian and Indian architecture and cuisine, a major port with influences from across the globe, it’s certainly an interesting and entertaining city to take in, either in its own right or whilst en-route from the plains of the Serengeti through to Zanzibar. Zanzibar is approximately one and a half hours away by ferry but Dar es Salaam does have its own closer islands and beaches to explore too!
