The Zambezi River is a hive of activity and wildlife, the fourth longest river in Africa, it originates in Zambia, dipping in and out and onwards eventually ending up at the Indian Ocean.
The most famous asset to the river is Victoria Falls the largest cascading sheet of water found anywhere in the world, falling 108 metres in spectacular fashion, the entirety of the Zambezi drops over this cliff edge causing spray to fly up to 800 metres in the air above.
The Zambezi is a lifeline to animals and humans alike, full of marine life, fishing supports many local communities based along the Zambezi, whilst animals congregate around the Zambezi to drink. Hippopotamuses and crocodiles alongside many species of fish and an abundance of birds call the Zambezi home.
Upstream from Victoria Falls is the Zambezi National Park where the Big Five be found as well as over 400 species of birds, 75 species of fish, waterbuck, greater kudu, common zebra and southern giraffe.
